Combi Rigs - Ready Tied

The Combi rig is a very versatile carp rig and can be used with all manner of baits all year around. The Combi rig combines a stiffer section (normally the boom) and softer more natural acting hook section. The choice of materials is critical for this type of rig because you need just enough stiffness and the supple section needs to be supple enough to show the lightest of bites yet still have a degree of stiffness to avoid tangles, we use either Korda Loop Braid or Korda Armakord (30lb) for the supple section as these are perfect for the correct presentation.
The combination of the stiff and supple sections means this rig has outstanding anti tangle properties and can be fished at any distance with confidence, either by casting or dropping from a bait boat. The Combi rig also gives the Carp something else to deal with because its very hard for them to eject due to the supple section. Should a Carp manage to eject the bait then the rig will self reset too!
The Combi Rig has had a few adaptions in recent years from Darrell Peck's version of the Multi Combi Rig, Adam Penning's reverse pop up Combi rig (This is where the hook section is fluorocarbon and the boom section is a coated braid.)
